Churu

The Shekhavati region is mostly occupied by the Sikar, Jhunjhunu and Churu districts. The Churu district is mostly dry and has extreme climatic conditions. The maximum annual rainfall within last 25 years has been recorded at 50 centimeters. The district of Churu is famous for its treasures of traditional arts, crafts and architecture.

Considered an inseparable part of the Shekhavati region Churu is famous for luxurious havelis (palaces, mansions). They palaces, Havelis and even the temples are beautifully painted on almost every available wall surface. The pictures represent the lifestyles of the Legends, the locals, the Gods and many heroes.
